Happy Birthday!!

Today my sweet blue eyed boy turns one!! Can you believe it?

What a year it has been! I couldn't be more proud of this little man! He cracks me up and I just can't stop smiling every time I look at him!

Today we are celebrating with Cookies at daycare and cake tonight with Mommy and Daddy! His big party is in a little over a week!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

We have had so much going on lately!

Colby's birthday is right around the corner! I can't believe that he's going to be 1!! I have been working on his invitations and party planning! Do you know how hard it is to get a good picture of an almost one year old whos non stop on the move? They should have contests or something! It's nearly impossible!

Colby finally has two bottom teeth!! He is using his new chompers to enjoy many new "big boy" foods! He still loves to eat!! He's on his way to running from walking! Not many still moments in our days anymore! Today we were getting ready to go somewhere and I looked down at him and I said "I Love You!" and he looked right back up at me and said "I Love You!" It melted my heart! Of course it wasn't the clearest of words but he sure gave it his best! (We had heard him attempt to say it a few other times but not as well as he did at this moment!)

We are also getting ready for Christmas! Buying and wrapping presents! I can't seem to stop this year! I am just so excited for everything! We took Colby to see Santa last night! He did better than I thought he would! He didn't love it by any means, but for a few moments he was ok with it! Now that wasn't the moment that Daddy got the picture! So we ended up with this...


I was kneeling down right in front of him! As soon as he was back in my arms he was perfectly fine! Matt and I had a good laugh over the picture though! We love our Little Man!

A Little of this a Little of that...

My poor blog has been neglected!

I keep telling myself I'm going to get more into this! But we all see how thats going huh?

We have been crazy busy!!

We have been on trips, had people visit, planned more trips, had some month birthdays for Little Man, started a business, had a gallbladder removed, and overall have just enjoyed being together!

Life does not appear to be slowing down any time soon! We have a big trip coming up, holidays, and then a big birthday!! I am so excited! I just can't believe that he is almost 1!!

I'll be back soon to post some new pictures! Tomorrow the three of us are going to the pumpkin patch! I can't wait!

Don't Be A Clown! Put The Cigarettes Down!

I am now the over joyed wife to a NON smoker!

I couldn't be more proud! Matt has been smoking since he was 12 or 13 years old!! Just a few short weeks ago he made the commitment to quit and went to the Doctor to start taking Chantix! It has worked wonderfully! He has thankfully had no side effects or problems while taking it! He is rounding out his first month and is on week two of not one, stinky, chemical filled, bad breath making, cigarette!

He says he is glad that Colby will never remember that Daddy smoked! I am just glad he quit! Now if we could work on his eating habits...

Happy Half Birthday!!

I can't believe that today my sweet baby boy is 6 months old!! At times it feels like just yesterday he so heavily blessed my life yet I can't imagine a day without him! He brings me unmeasurable amounts of joy and smiles! He amazes me each and every day! Waking me with the most beautiful smiles and coos! Filling my days with laughter and kisses! And winding down my nights with grins and cuddles. He is such a blessing to my entire family and I am so very thankful for him and all he has brought to my life!

He is changing and growing! He can now smile, roll all over, laugh, sit up all by himself, blow raspberries, give kisses, yell, spin himself in circles on his belly, scoot backwards, put everything in his mouth, and melt my heart!

I love watching his personality shine through! He is very happy and easy going! But he has no problem letting you know when he's ticked! He loves to sit on the floor and play! He really enjoys music, books, elmo, swimming, and bath time!

I am doing all I can to enjoy every moment!

Lions,Tigers , and Bears! Oh My!

Colby took his first trip to the zoo!!

We had a great time! The weather turned out to be beautiful, all of our kids were well behaved (daycare kids, friends kids) and it wasn't over crowded!

I tried to get him to look at the gorillas but, he was only interested in what the other kids were doing! I tried to get him to see the elephants and he was sleeping! That's ok though! It was only his first trip to the zoo! There will be many more trips! I can't wait to take him back when he is a little older!

I also hope he waits until he's older to do this again...


Oh man! I don't know what to do with him!


He is most definitely a keeper though!!

Park!

This past week we have made a few trips down the street to the park! Colby thinks it's great fun!! He just loves watching other kids and checking things out! He has also become a fan of the park swings!! =)






I just can't get enough of this beautiful blessing! Everyday he brings more and more joy into my life! I am so lucky to be his Mom!

Basement!

We have finally started finishing our basement!! So far we have had the can lights installed and a switch moved and as of yesterday we have the framing up for the wall and another doorway!! I am so excited about all of the extra space we are going to have!

It was a little noisy yesterday with the saw and nail gun but Colby didn't seem to notice!! He took 2 naps while they were hard at work in our basement! When it was done I took him down there and showed him the framing and told him that was what all the noise was about! haha. =) The guy that did it was awesome! He kept giving Matt a hard time and had me laughing every 5 minuets! He was also very nice and did a wonderful job! When he was done he ended up charging us $100 less than what we were originally told! He basically said that he had kids our age and he just wanted to help us out!

I have some great ideas for furniture and decorating downstairs! A lot of stuff from IKEA and the rest for Target (of course!). I am SO lucky to be having my Dad, Beth and Starr visiting in a few weeks and they are going to pick stuff up at IKEA for us so we don't have to have it all shipped!! What life savers! At this rate we will get our basement finished and furnished for a lot less than we thought!!

As soon as it's done I plan on having a cookout/game night!! Fun times ahead!

Rolly Polly!

Today Colby really perfected rolling from his back! His arm is no longer a challenge! Now nothing stands in his way!! =) He hasn't really noticed yet that it can get him from point A to point B! He rolls over on his belly but then right back onto his back the same way he came. So he doesn't make progress getting anywhere!! But it's still exciting! I am so proud of him!! I just can't believe how big he is getting!! =)

Toot Toot!!

Yesterday during Not Me! Monday I was invited to try out Toot Your Horn Tuesday!! Check out Silly Little Sparrow and read what other people are tooting about! =)

This weekend I threw a baby shower for my friend Jen! It turned out wonderful!! I made some creative little star chips! (For the moon and stars theme!) Everyone loved them!!

I kept my bedroom floor clean! Amazing! =) You really should see it most days!! =/

I made some Go Green! changes around the house that I am feeling wonderful about!

I made a beautiful baby! (Ok he's been around for a little while now but I still want to toot about it!!)


I also finished my very first quilt and gave it to my friend at her shower!! I think it turned out amazing!! I am very impressed with myself!! I didn't know I had it in me! It takes a lot of patience... something I at times lack!


And I'm organizing a group of walkers!! So we can go out and enjoy the sunshine, company, and wave goodbye to the pounds we leave behind!!

Learning To Let It Be?

I thought that maybe I should explain why I titled my blog "Learning To Let It Be".

I guess I started this blog more for a therapy for me. A place to write and maybe sort out some of the chaos in my head! haha.

I have realized that I try to be in control too often, and too much! I really need to learn to let things go and let them be. I need to learn the "It is what it is"! So this blog is going to be a tool in helping me do that!

Maybe if I get some of my stories out and write them down then it will help me let them go!

Not Me!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.


I did NOT laugh aloud at the woman when she called the urgentcare staff "F***ing Crazy!"!! Hahahaha!. No, no way. Not Me!

I did NOT stop at Hy-Vee to pick up the cake for my friends baby shower and have my card be declined five times at checkout! I do have money!!

I did NOT throw a fit about this! I'm very mature, really!!

I did NOT stand up in the front of the store for 20 minuets waiting for my mom to come save the day while talking loudly on my phone about how mad I was and bouncing my fussy son on my hip!! You're out of your mind! I have my crap together way more than that!!

Really, this was a way crazy weekend. I'm sure I could Not Me! for hours!! I don't even feel like I had a weekend! Yet it's Monday. Not Me! Is the only part of Monday I like!

I actually have a few blog ideas. I think about blogging. But I don't. I'm going to work on that!!

Not Me! Monday

I've been following MckMama and her beautiful family for some time now! And I am so happy that Not Me! Mondays are back that I am going to join!!

I did NOT officially start my blog just to join in on not me Mondays! Are you kidding me? I have plenty of interesting things going on in my life and lots to write about!

I did NOT eat pizza 3 times this week!! No way I eat so much healthier than that!!

I did NOT have a brief flash of panic when my sons pediatrician let us know that a small child was in that very office, that very day with a confirmed case of swine flu! Absolutely not! What's the big deal?

I did NOT take a two hour nap on the couch with my sweet baby boy instead of doing laundry! We do NOT need clean clothes for the week! So who cares!

I did NOT check the mail five times on Saturday looking for a package containing a birthday present to my husband from our baby! and I 100% did NOT stomp my feet like a two year old when it did not arrive!!

Wow this was even better than I imagined! I guess if all else fails I could blog every Monday for a Not Me!! =)
